Key Biscayne trimming is mostly storm prep: coconuts, dead fronds, and seed pods off every palm, and canopy thinning on the hardwoods before hurricane season.
Key Biscayne is an island village reached by the Rickenbacker Causeway, with coconut palms, sea grapes, and gumbo limbos around single family homes on Harbor Drive and Mashta Island and condo grounds along the ocean.
Before hurricane season, island owners and condo associations need coconuts and dead fronds taken down so they do not become projectiles in high wind. Palms should not be stripped to a few top fronds, which weakens them, so we remove only dead and hanging fronds and the fruit. Sea grapes and shade trees are thinned and shaped to ANSI A300 standards to keep views and walkways open. We never hatrack a tree.
Before any regulated tree work we coordinate with the Village of Key Biscayne and, where it applies, Miami Dade County. An ISA Certified Arborist on our team reviews the trees with you. Call (305) 615-9169 or send your plan or photos with the form below.
Everything on the island takes more planning: equipment and trucks come over the causeway, the soil is sand, salt is constant, and the island takes the full force of every storm.
